Yakima Pride Presents The 5th Annual
RAINBOW PROM
6:00-10:00 PM | May 27th, 2023 | Ages 14-20
Le Château Ballroom, Downtown-Yakima, WA
"For many teens, the prom is the epitome of their high school experience. But for students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, it can be a challenge to feel like they belong. Yakima Pride decided to start a new annual tradition called "The Rainbow Prom," where attending LGBTQ+ youth are welcome and safe to be fully themselves."
- YAKIMA PRIDE
Get ready!
to be inspired by the vibrant and diverse history of LGBTQ+ Pride flags! From Gilbert Baker's iconic rainbow flag to Monica Helms' meaningful "Transgender Pride" flag, each one represents a unique aspect of our community. And at Rainbow Prom, we're celebrating them all!
Whether you're attending the event or not, let the colors and symbols of Pride flags be a reminder of the importance of acceptance, love, and equality for all. So, put on your best attire and join us in celebrating the rich culture and history of the LGBTQ+ community. Let's continue to strive towards a future where everyone can live freely and authentically, without fear of judgment or discrimination. This is a celebration you won't want to miss!
And that's not all!
This is your chance to meet other members of the LGBTQ+ community and make new friends!
We'll be crowning our Rainbow Prom Royalty with a contest during the event (stay tuned for details!), and you won't want to miss the amazing drag performances by Anita B and Edward DeMizer. Plus, there will be plenty of food, snacks, and beverages available, including vegetarian and vegan options!
Yakima Pride Chaperones will be onsite to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing, and we'll have more exciting event information to share with you soon.
But remember - once you're in, you're in! We kindly ask that guests refrain from leaving the premises and attempting to re-enter. So put on your dancing shoes, bring your best energy, and get ready to celebrate love, acceptance, and diversity with us at the 2023 Rainbow Prom!
Pride Flags | Be Inspired!
As our LGBTQ+ movement has become more inclusive and aware of itself, various segments have created their own flags to fly alongside the Pride flag. Below are additional flags you may or may not know.

Anita B
Hold on to your wigs, folks, because you're in for a wild ride with me, the one and only drag sensation and Rainbow Prom veteran! When I hit the stage, get ready to move your body and feel the energy as I bring the house down with upbeat, old-school queer anthems that will have you dancing all night long! And don't worry, my shows aren't just about the music. I'll have you in stitches with my hilarious comedic bits that will leave you gasping for air. So let's come together as one, and show the world what it means to truly shine and be proud!
Edward DeMizer
Get ready to slay the stage with the one and only Edward DeMizer, the drag sensation who brings heavy, high-energy punk and goth vibes with vintage and styled looks that are out of this world! I've been a pillar in the local community since the early 2000s, but I'm not stopping there, honey. I'm on a mission to educate and inspire the newest members of our community, spreading the word about queer history and bridging the gap between younger and older generations. Let's get loud and proud together, and show the world what it means to be fabulous and fierce!
