Parade Route

10:00 AM STEP-OFF | Saturday, September 18th, 2021

Take PRIDE in the LGBTQ+ community today and show your support by marching in this year's Yakima Pride Parade!

We encourage all LGBTQ+ identifying people, supportive and affirming businesses, non-profit groups, schools, and community allies to participate. Yakima Pride encourages you to join us: OUT, LOUD and PROUD as we honor those that came before us and those who advocate alongside us.

Yakima has a long history and tradition of parades that celebrate the community, families, businesses, and schools. We believe that Pride Parades should also be part of this tradition.

While LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in Yakima have often been celebrated out of public view and often in secrecy; we believe that Pride Parades should be celebrated in the spirit of visibility and "One Community."

This will be the second year Yakima Pride has partnered with Caliber Building Solutions to construct a Parade Float. We will be finishing up the design the week before the parade.

We welcome all volunteers and the community to join us in decorating the Yakima Pride Float with the spirit of "One Community."

Warning: There will be lots of glitter involved!

The Giant Pride Flag

8:00 AM - 9:45 AM at Portia Park

Presented by Seattle PrideFest

Our friends over at Seattle PrideFest have partnered with Yakima Pride to support our community by presenting an amazing, historic, never been done before, YOU BETTER NOT MISS IT, moment in Yakima's LGBTQ+ history!

Together, we will be unveiling and unfurling Seattle PrideFest's giant 6 color rainbow pride flag that's 135 feet long and 30 feet wide!

You DO NOT need to register or apply for a parade contingent entry to help carry the Giant Pride Flag.

Individuals, families, and walking groups that wish to march in the Yakima Pride Parade are encouraged to meet at Portia Park between 8:00-9:45AM.

Yakima Pride Volunteers will be unfurling the GIANT PRIDE FLAG, presented by Seattle PrideFest, in support of Yakima Pride Festival & Parade and we need your help to carry this beautiful symbol along Yakima Ave where we will arrive downtown at the Yakima Pride Festival!

The GIANT PRIDE FLAG is the LAST entry in the PARADE.

Once all contingent entries have passed by Portia Park we will begin the process of carrying the Giant Flag onto Yakima Ave towards Naches Ave and ending at the Yakima Pride Festival.

MEDIA: This event will be recorded from the air and on the ground! We expect most Yakima media outlets to be covering this historic moment. Be camera ready and let your RAINBOW FLAGS FLY!

PARKING*: Please be respectful of the neighborhood when choosing a parking spot. Please carpool or have someone drop you off at Portia Park. We ask that you plan your parade morning for success!

*Yakima Pride is working to provide a shuttle service to help with this. If this becomes an option/available, we will send out a notification of where and when to catch a ride. We cannot make any promises for transportation to Portia Park. Plan ahead.
